Vacation Chronicles - What I did in terms of exercise and nutrition while away

This past week, our family traveled to Ocho Rios in Jamaica. It was glorious.

I have been working a lot lately - training, performing orientations for new members, online programming, studying for my CSCS, fitting in my workouts, spending quality time with my kids and husband and favorite dog. A vacation was absolutely necessary.

Normally, I do the following on vacation:

  • Morning walks along the resort grounds or the beach (I do this alone. It’s amazing).

  • Order breakfast on my walk so I can eat when I return from my walk.

  • Get ready for the day.

  • Go do family things.

  • Eat lunch.

  • Go do more family things.

  • Get ready for dinner.

  • Go eat a delicious meal.

  • Have a drink with my husband and his sister and parents.

  • Go to bed.

  • Do it all over again.

This vacation, this is what I did:

  • Slept in

  • Took morning videos of the beach from the room balcony

  • Walked to the buffet for breakfast

  • Swam in a pool

  • Some days, had a massage

  • One day, I paddle boarded and went on a catamaran sunset cruise and swam in the ocean

  • Hiked up a waterfall (which was cool as hell. Even my kids did it!)

  • Went to the gym with Luc twice because I wanted to, not because I had to

  • Ate some good food

  • Drank A LOT of water

  • Got a small virus so I was up all night one night (this was great, not lol)

  • Took a lot of pics and threw my phone down every other time

  • Made memories with my kids

  • RELAXED SO HARD I DIDN’T KNOW I WAS CAPABLE OF DOING SO

So, you see… I did move a bit, but I was more concerned with RELAXING this trip. I am terrible at sitting still (you should have seen me Saturday post-trip. I was all over laundry, Instacart groceries, dog pick up from the kennel, taking care of the kids and my sick husband), so this trip was a nice reminder to slow down and ENJOY things.

If you are really focused on keeping consistency during a vacation due to a specific goal, then yes, you need to be disciplined. But one week of enjoying life will not derail you entirely from your current routine.

Well, off to relax before another week of training my amazing clients.
